I am familiar with the formula for the mean gas velocity =(d^2/dv^2)*Vm but I am having trouble finding a formula to calculate maximum intake port velocity. This will provide some aid in the study of high velocity airflow behaviour. A piston speed/cylinder pressure drop/valve opening formula would also be of assistance. Is anyone able to help?

You use equation of steam continuity (I belive you call it this way in English). You take piston velocity and ratio of cross sections between piston and valve lift flow area. More-less: (VALVEdiam+SEATdiam)*3,14*(Lift-1) <mm2>
