Maybe wrong place but WPS ?

So we use a prequalified WPS for fillet welds. But the maximum size for prequalify is 5/16 (possibly 3/8") if my understanding is right. Welders are qualified 2G 1" plate so they're qualified to weld fillets 1/8" to unlimited. Back to WPS. Would have to do an additional plate test for WPS figure 6.15. Position would be horizontal (cause thats how we weld) on one side would be 5/16" single pass and the other would side be 3/8" multi pass that would get my WPS range from 5/16" to unlimited? What would my plate sizes be? 1" and 3/8"? Confusing!!! Testing would be in lab for 3 face macroetch.
