Hello all,

could some standard expert explain to me, what does .3 mean in materials such as GS-38.3, GS-52.3...?
In my June1985 edition of DIN 1681 there is no such material name, only without .3.
In Stahlschlussel 2013 there is no such material, only GS-52.3 as a trade name for GS-52.
I found in 20 years old Stahlschlussel edition, that there were some DDR(Deutsche Demokratische Republik) materials with that name, but that is all, I could find.

Customers have materials with .3 on newer drawings, so it is possible, that I have missed some standard.

Anyone?

Thank you for your answer. I think, you meant carbon 0.30%.
It is plausible explanation(does it come from any standard?), although in case of low strenght steel like GS-38.3 or GS-45.3 it would make no sense to have carbon more than 0.30%.
