Hi everyone, I am working on this demolition project and I came across some historical steel shapes. One of them has some reinforcement called H.P. provided on the G1 girder. My best guess is that it is some sort of plate but i am not sure what exactly is that steel member. Any help is appreciated and as always many thanks in advance!

I would look for a set of notes that may define that. The T.P. and B.P. seem to be top and bottom plates. The H.P. is likely a plate of some kind but it is skinny and thin. My guess is it is a plate that sits on top of the bottom flange.

HP = Heel Plate (a top cover plate on the bottom flange). Ask Skanska to give you the original plans - NYSDOT provided them - Contract FAMDE 54-4; look at Sheets 39 & 40.

Corrected a typo
