In the Object Properties box (ie: right click a Datum Plane > Properties), what is the meaning of
1. the "Name" box
vs
2. the "Feature Name" box

Secondly, is there any way, when using WAVE to link features, to have the linked feature carry over the Feature Name of the parent feature? (Rather than just "LINKED_DATUM_PLANE" or similar...)
Thanks!

The feature name is what shows up in the feature list.

The name is like an attribute, you can give entities a name and refer to them by that name later. This gives you another option for choosing entities: by name, filter by attributes (color, linetype, etc), manual pick, etc. I have found the entity names to be most useful with grip programs; for example, I have a program that adds some notes to our titleblock - next time you run the program and want different notes the program will delete by name and make new notes.

As for the second part of your question - be careful what you ask for...

cowski,
can you explain what you are implying by warning "be careful what you ask for"?

I'm sure I had a good reason back in May, but now that it's October, I don't remember what it was.

hehe - most delayed response EVER! something made me revisit my old "name" vs "feature name" question, and I realized I hadn't understood all of your reply... oh well.
