Hi,

Does anyone know what the different parameters in the inertia matrix means? For example what the IoxG, IxyG..etc stand for?

Thanks in advance!

I believe the Io(x,y,z) is the Area Moment of Inertia (used in bending calculations), while the I(xy,xz,yz) is the Mass Moment of Inertia.

Thanks for the great answer.

So would Iox be the inertia along the "x" direction and Ixy be the inertia on the xy plane?

That's right. The plane is defined because mass moment of inertia is rotational.

thanks alot rgmidway. Would you also happen to know what the Inertia / G tab stands for? I know the other ones (inertia / o...inertia p ) are measuring with respect to a origin or a point. Is inertia / G with respect to gravity?

Thanks

You're welcome eliou :) This one I have to just assume is gravity...I don't know what else it would be.

I can really see the benefit in measure the 3D inertia of a model, does anyone know why someone would want to just measure the 2d inertia of a face on a solid? Does it have any specific applications for which it is useful?
