So here is the scenerio. I have a part/assembly and open the measure tool. I select something (i.e. line/circle/edge/point) and then go to select something else using right click and "select other." The measure tool info box greys out and the entity I selected had not been added to the "selected items" box. Then once that happens most of my tools grey out. All I can do from there is open other parts, use my standard views and start new parts. So I am forced to ctrl-alt-delete and shut down solidworks from there. Anyone else get this bug/problem? I have SW04 SP2.1 and its been happening since i installed sw04. It doen't happen all the time but enough to get me all upset and wanting to break my workstation.

Thanks

Try doing the Select other selection first, then open measuring tool, then select other line or circle, etc.

Hey CorBlimeyLimey,

Thats what I end up doing but sometimes I am not thinking or something and do it. I was wondering if anyone else runs into this problem or if it something quirky with my setup.

I just tried it as you suggested and it works fine for me. Nothing greys out. When I select "Select Other" it allows me to pick another face/line/circle/ etc... Once I pick it, it shows up in the Measure Menu. Nothing greys out and I don't have to end my SW session - SW04 - SP2.1

You should try and do a repair on your install of SW - That is located under Control Panel\"Add and remove programs"\SW04 - Click on "Change" and follow the menus to when it asks you to Repair. Click "Repair" and let it go.

If that doesn't work you might need to reinstall.
