I just wanted to know if anyone out there has figured out how to use Borland C++ Builder 6 to compile mechanica motion studies. see, the problem is, is that the Borland compiler costs $130 CAD and the only supported compiler (Microsoft Visual C++) comes only as a C++ designing suite and costs well over $1000 CAD. I'm kind of pissed off that PTC chooses to support the expensive Microsoft product only.... hmm... anyway, i have gotten the borland product working before on 2000i2 - so i know that the compiler compiles correctly.

any input would be a help.

Thanks,
D'Arcy O'Connor

We found C++ separatly for about $60 at University Book Store. Could not be available anymore.

You could just go to Wildfire and not need it anymore.

yeah, I am on wildfire... I have thought about getting the advanced Mechanism package going, though it lacks some features that motion has: bearing loads and the ability to import loads from motion into structure.

D'Arcy,

Just read this in PTC Customer newsletter, thought you might be interested.

This applies to Wildfire 2.0. I hope to get the chance to test this out later this afternoon

(Quoted from Creation Tips of the Week: PTC Customer E-Newsletter May 31, 2004)

MDO Loads Transfer
• Loads from Mechanisms Dynamics can be transferred from MDO into Structure for inclusion in analyses
• In MDO, once analysis is run, select to export loads to structure
• In Structure, Insert->Mechanisms load
• All loads added to a new load set as acceleration and unassociated fore/moment loads • No more issues due to orientation or units mismatch
