Mechanical Equipment and Piping for Non Mechanical Engineer Reference 2

I am a civil engineer and will be doing some work in a refinery plant. I do not have a mechanical background and am looking for a reference book or course material that will give me the basics regarding mechanical equipment and piping that is typically found in a processing plant.

If you have an idea of reference material you would recommend, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your time.

I think for your purpose "Process Plant Layout and Piping Design", by Ed Bausbacher and Roger Hunt (IBSN0791305435) is an excellent book.

If you search the internet you will come across many articles on the refinery processes.

Hire a retired piping designer who has the training and experience in equipment layout and piping design. Use this person as an adviser on your project.
You and your Insurance agent will also sleep better at night and your Client will be happier with the results.

What is the name of the MBA who assigned a civil engineer to a Mechanical Engineer's job ?

Is he currently assigning the electricals to check all civil and structural steel calculations ?

I don't believe I stated that I would be working as a mechanical engineer. Some people like to research their surroundings to better understand how their work will affect the overall process of workflow. Don't make assumptions, your post was not well received and unappreciated.
