Hi all,
Mining engineer here. I trying to devise a system to lift a weight of approximately 10kg up a height of 1.4m (total vertical travel) and in and out approximately 30cm. I'd like to mount the system on the side of a vehicle, so minimal power draw and as lightweight as possible.
Any ideas the best place to start? I was thinking an electric motor running a chain that can raise and lower the weight mounted on a couple of sliders. For the in and out I was thinking pulleys or a gear that runs a long flat gear (I'm unsure of the names) - however I'm not sure if I can do this from the same motor, or if I need a separate one attached to the elevating platform. Then of course I have to keep any electrical wires in place whilst it raises and lowers.
Does anyone know if anything like this exists or am I going to have to start from scratch?
Thanks
John
