Mechanical route - Applying constraints to Linear Path

Hi.
I've just started using the Mechanical Route application in NX (v1973). Is it possible to add a constraint to the linear path? Ultimately I would like a particular line segment to be parallel to an axis or another line segment.
I do create the path using align axis but when I then play with segment lengths things seem to go slightly astray. Many thanks
