Mechanical Screen Design

I have a tall mechanical screen that will be constructed on top of the roof. There is a small gap seperating the roof and the screen. I am designing it as a parapet, but the wind load is very large. I am looking if there is a provision that would allow to design as something besides a parapet. Any suggestions? I do not think I can classify it as a sign, but does not really fit the definition of a parapet either.

There is a provision for tanks, chimneys, and similar rooftop equipment, but it can give large wind loads as well.

Design for large wind loads unless you want the screen to blow away.

Might check with your architect and see if you can use the 'open mesh' type of screen for the walls. Some of these have an effective wind area of about 1/2 of a solid material. It helps.

Otherwise, yes screen wall verticals get pretty big. Connection to the roof structure can be a challenge as well.
