We are using VS1 type pump (fitted with single Mechanical seal catridge type )for pumping the Treated effluent to the sea. The kw rating is 430. The client specification calls for Spacer type coupling for all the pumps and somehow this got missed out during the procurement and the pump presently without spacer coupling and got delivered.
Now Client had raised the concern as they have lost the flexibility of replacing the mechanical seal insitu and for every replacement of Mech seal there requires motor lifting with lifting cranes etc.
As for as i understand , the spacer type coupling will be useful for BB type pumps to replace the bearings or the mechanical seal insitu. Also spacer type coupling would greatly help for the OH2 pumps removal that are basically back pull out type without disturbing the drive motor. Is this same practical to VS1 type pumps too for replacing the Mechanical seal insitu?
Thanks for your answers.
