Hi everybody.
What is the best method to preserve Osmotic membranes?
What is the operating condition for this goal? Pressure and temperature?
How long it is applicable?
In my work place (power plant) we have 2 rows of Ion ex-changer to water treatment, and we decide to apply a new section of water treatment by osmotic principle.
Can we standby Osmotic row for long time? Or we must use this row in continues mode?
Thanks.

To preserve your equipment and possible warranty, it is best to contact the manufacturer for instructions.

Hi chemist 2020,

Please find my reply below.

1)If you are talking about preserving membranes that are taken out of the pressure vessel, they are usually soaked in a diluted SBS solution. Anyway, please check with the manufacturer again on their recommendations.

2)The average life span of RO membrane is about 3 to 5 years depending on how well your maintenance are. A well designed pre-treatment system can prolong the interval between chemical cleaning.

3)It is recommended to run your RO at least once a day. This is to prevent biofouling caused by stagnant water.

Hope I answer your questions.

Regards,
Wan
