The new ASCE 7-10 changed the wording of the bracing exclusion from 12" to top of duct to 12" rod. This doesn't affect square duct however round duct with (2) hangers will rarely if ever meet this requirement. ASCE 7-05 section 13.6.7a and ASCE 7-10 section 13.6.7b
