Hi,
I want to model a pile penetrate into soil media and have a problem with meshing the model. I always get an error saying the elements contained in element set ErrElemExcessDistortion-Step1 have distorted excessively. Previous researchers used a special method by using special shape as shown in attached figure (black and white figure). I am following the same procedure but could not mesh properly as the figure (green). I have tried by introducing more seeds but then it becomes an un-meshable partition. Can anyone recommend me a method to mesh that part.

Thanks

Hi,
What happens if you change from structured (green) to sweep (yellow) on the problematic partition?

Hi, I changed and tried to get similar mesh (to black and white figure) by introducing seeds but it says can't solve the seeding constraints. Also, I tried with further partitioning the model.Once I partitioned up to the boundary it causes another problem when running the model. Boundary consists of the infinite elements and error says "Infinite element 274030 instance PART-1-1 is not properly connected a non-infinite element. It must share an entire face with one and only one non-infinite element". Do you have any suggestions.
Thanks.

Hi,
You could maybe try bottom up meshing. It can produce really nice results. Just a suggestion. Link

I do not know how to use infinite elements.
