I'm involved in a re-roofing project and need to check roof structure capacities for increase in gravity weight (due to insulation) and diaphragm shear, per IBC. For two of the handful of roofs I inspected, of which record drawings are not available, I was able to field measure the general deck geometry - see attached sketch. Does anyone have information/knowledge or published load tables/product data for the indicated deck types?

The first deck has 1.5" deep x 1.25" wide triangular ribs spaced 6" on center. The individual sheet width is about 18" wide and sheets nest into each other.

The second deck is a long-span deck, with 4.5" deep x 3" wide inverted 'T' ribs spaced every 12" on center. The deck spans 16' between beams/girders. Ceiling tiles are laid between the ribs. There is also an embossed 'x' pattern in the deck sheet between ribs.

Thanks!

Jeff

H57 - I would agree it is similar but the dimensions appear to differ.

I should mention these buildings were constructed sometime between the 50's - 70's (best estimate on LIMITED record drawings)...

The inch and half roof deck probably is 18 Gage. That's the most extensively used type. The load table should be easily available from manufacture.

Vertical load is taken by joist spacing, shear and uplift by fasteners.

Anyone else out there that may have come across these deck types?

This probably is not useful. However, I have seen a deck similar to first deck used on catwalks and platforms in the interstitial levels of a building built in the late 70's. The original structural drawings specified Robertson Keystone deck. But, I never could find any other useful information on the deck.

I have seen multiple references/specifications for Robertson Keystone deck without ever finding any information too! I have been wanting to add something on this deck to my collection for years, just can't find it...oh well, the search continues!

Just to close this one off, jmfick has found his deck.
