All,
I have to do the Flange leakage/stress calcs for a bolted, metal-to-metal contact joint i.e. male/female flange with O-ring. My query is whether or not ASME VIII Div 1 App 1 caters for such an instance? Do I need to be concerned about Gasket Seating? I can see from Table 2-5.2 that a facing sketch is included but I am unsure about compressibility if I have metal-to-metal contact. Will the Operating conditions suffice?
