Metal to Metal Contact Behaviour

Hi All,

Can someone please advise:

1. How do the two metals behave when they are in contact subsea (salt water) at a great depth:

a. Stainless Steel to Aluminum (subsea).
b. Stainless Steel to Stainless Steel (subsea).
c. Aluminum to Aluminum (subsea).
d. Stainless Steel to hard anodized surface (subsea).
e. Aluminum to hard anodized surface (subsea).
f. Anodized surface to anodized surface (subsea).

And how will they behave on a dry corrosive (on deck) offshore environment? Thanks in advance.

At a great depht :
a. Stainless Steel to Aluminum (subsea) : if the aluminium is not protected, there is a risk of galvanic corrosion.
b. Stainless Steel to Stainless Steel (subsea) : if stainless steel have the same characteristics (for exemple two "316L") there is no problem (Not prolonged immersion).
c. Aluminum to Aluminum (subsea): ok for marine aluminium (5086 or 5083)
d. Stainless Steel to hard anodized surface (subsea): No problem if the aluminium is hard anodized,

Thanks for your answers. Mike, I am working on a design on a subsea tool which would be used at a depth of 3000 ft.
