Hi,

I am attaching light gage steel stud to existing roof joist. What kind of fasteners would you guys use for that kind of connection to transfer the shear ?

Depending on the thickness of the track, I may just use pan-head wood screws.

If the loads allowed it, Hilti's TEK screws would be good.

I don't know if teks will do light gauge steel to wood. I believe they cover wood to steel but not the reverse direction. If the gauge is reasonable, a wood screw will go through it.

That's a point.....probably a screw with a coarser thread would be better.
