Check the ASM Handbook series.  Should be available in a technical library (College,University) or you may contact the American Society for Metals.  I think they are located in Columbus, OH, but not sure.  Their reference material is excellent.

I need some information on welding 430 (or 430F)
stainless steel to 304 or 316.
Is it possible using TIG, beam or laser welding?
What are the concerns when welding these materials
together if any?
What filler rod is recommneded?
These are just some of the questions.

Thanks

Vince...430 is not intended to be welded. It sensitizes on cooling and loses its already marginal corrosion resistance. Use a stabilized grade such as 439.

Need help on what Flux/Wire combination needed to weld a 439 S.S. The welding process is SAW. What manufacturer makes the best flux/wire combination to weld on this material. thanks for all your help
