Hi, I'm Hermess.

I have a question for corrosion rate of cooling water

Generally I assume corrosion rate of cooling water by using Langelier Saturation Index and Ryznar Stability Index.

However, it does not show the exact corrosion rate which is just indicating the proneness and degree of corrosion scale.

Is there any method for calculating corrosion rate numerically?

You need to know a lot more about the water conditions, such as O content, temp., Cl, velocity for starters.

i agree with metalguy, the Corrosion rate is a function of a numbers of factors. There are some graph with corrosion rate as a function of temperature and oxygen content, and also in the Huligh handbook there is a graph with a correlation between corrosion rate and langelier saturation index (pag 535 2nd edition).
In the following doc there is a good explanation of corrosion contrl and corrosion in cooling water system.

hope this help
