Does anyone have expertise with "Micro polishing" of CRES. The vendor says this is a proprietary process and will not disclose any details. These parts are very small inconel tubes braised to CRES 316L precision fittings. The process removes any micro burrs and also heat discoloration after the braising process, but also is causing undersize condition on 5/16 -32EF 2A threads.
Thank you

I believe it is the same as electropolishing. Which is not a proprietary process.
We do this all the time with our parts and have not seen your problem. IMO, the vendor should work with you if they still want your business.

Possibly, they are over-polishing.

Another possibility, particularly with small firms running at capacity is that their baths have not been switched out in a while, resulting in incorrect stoichiometry for optimum processing.

Similar effects occur with electrodeposition.

I have to concur with the above post that the process is probably electropolishing. There are several variations incorporated into electropolishing that are held close to the vest by some firms.
The vendor should work with you on the problem regardless of his desire for secrecy. He should have you sign a confidentiality or secrecy agreement so the problems can be worked out.

Here is site that has a lot of information on the electropolishing process. This might help you in your discussions.
