I am on V20 and every time I save an assembly file it creates a .cfg file that XP says is a microsoft office outlook file. Is there any way to turn that off so it does not always create this file?

Hi,

This file is the configuration file for the Solid Edge assembly.
t will always be there.

You can delete, but SE will create a new one. There is no need to open or view this file. Learn to ignore it.

No it's not just a worthless extra file.
This is the file that holds all the assembly configuration information.(I'm not sure if it's just display configs)
If you save different configs the info will be stored here.
If you then delete it all those configs will be lost.

The reason its being shown as a Microsoft Outlook file is because that's how Windows is set to recognise the .cfg file extension.

Where would we be without sat-nav?

Definitely not worthless, especially if you ever have to make pretty pictures from CAD or do things like step by step work instructions, or even drawings views with some parts hidded (the efficient way).

Very usefull indeed if you have the need for it.
