Hi,

I'm fresh new to Inventor and here is my question: is it possible to define the functionality of the middle mouse button (wheel) so that when I click and drag it will Rotate the model?

Thanks,
Sorin

I hope inventor can modify this setting, it's the most convenient thing since 3D design softwares. It's one of the reason why most other softwares suck.

I agree sg20,
I'm basically a SW guy, but I want to experiment, compare, expand, be more versatile with Inventor. One of the things I like in SW's interface is I can "inspect" my model (different views, view angles, cross sections etc.) very easily, fluently, really fast, and I don't have to use the keyboard at all.
So I gather it can't be done at this time right?
Thanks,
Sorin

I think it should work. The setting would have to be done within the windows mouse settings though. You should be able to assign the middle button click as F4.

It will really depend on the mouse though. Often times a click is not a constant signal, but just a single pulse when you click (meaning it would behave like a single tap of the F4 key).

MUCH better option to buy a spaceball!! then you have control all the time and can select while you are zooming and orbiting. I bought three off ebay for about $35 each.

The FLX4000 works fine for me, and all the buttons are programable (my brain can only remember 5 of them for my left hand though). Drivers are still available so no worries. It will take a couple days to learn how to "drive" with your left hand, but once you try it, you won't work without it.

To rotate in Inventor all you have to do is hold F4.
