Hi all,

Is there a rule of thumb as to when a good time to implement a new release of NX is (relative to release date?) We installed NX 5 right when it came out, and I have regrets. Now we've got the 5.0.1 release and are greatly anticipating 5.0.2. On an ongoing basis I am having problems ranging from minor nuisances to NX corrupting my files.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Ben

As a rule of thumb the first maintenance release will usually address those issues which users find but did not get fixed in testing. On the other hand if everyone followed that policy then nobody would be using new releases thus the problems remain undiscovered.

One problem that we have had in the past with UGS was that for a time we were not always being offered the patches unless we reported problems. I don't know what the logic of that was, and nor am I entirely sure of their policy for NX-5. My guess would be ring your helpline and ask for the latest patches and also look on the internet.

The last few releases of NX have been generally stable. I'm surprised/disappointed to hear of your problems with NX-5.

Hope this helps

The scheduled releases and maintenance packs are always available to all customers. At times patches are developed to solve specific customer complaints. While these patches MAY help another customer, they are not made available to all. If you call in with a problem and an existing patch will also help you, GTAC will make it available to you.
