Hi guys, I got a part here for a hydraulic system on a Military vehicle, specifically a demister. it has what I believe to be a MIL spec coating on it. Its a dark brown/green color and is somewhat glossy. its definitely not paint either. I'll post a picture of it as soon as I can so you can get a better idea. any suggestions on what the coating may be? Thanks guys

I agree with Cory, likely zinc plating with chromate conversion coating. Chromate baths based on chromic acid (hexavalent Cr) can produce a thicker olive drab or brown color with longer immersion times.

The joints at the base of the barbed fittings and around the lower end cap look like they are brazed connections. While the joint around the upper circumference of the cap is clearly a fusion weld performed before the coating was applied.
