Hi all.

For AISI 304L mat'l, is there a reason to use a 2B finish over a mill finish, other than appearance?

Is there possibility for corrosion, or other issue?

Thanks in advance.

Brushed finish is presumably cleaner than the as-rolled finish, thus has better corrosion resistance...until you clean, pickle & passivate.

That depends on what you mean by a mill finish. For sheet material you will get a 2B or a 2D. Both have been temper rolled, but the rolls have a different surface finish. All that changes is the looks.
Both are better than a #1 finish.
The next step above 2B is BA (bright annealed) which is usually not needed.
