Afternoon,
Is there a table in the ASME code that refers to min and max requirements for chemicals/alloys of base metals?
I was trying to compare the above with the MTR I have for this material, all I could find was a table for this grade of pipe and hard numbers.
The exception being Manganese had a range.
Thanks Dave

sftyvlv1, you should find everything you need in ASME Sec II, Parts A & B, including (somewhere) tolerances on composition. Keep in mind if no max (or min) is listed in the specs it does not apply.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

In many ASME/ASTM specification, some elements will only have a maximum listed.

And if the element is not listed then it does not matter, unless it makes it into a different grade.

One caveat, The general specifications covering the materials may have additional limitations. For example SA-20 for CS materials and SA-480 for SS materials.

And now that I think of it there are some specs that say 'total of all others not to exceed xxx'.
So there are some odd ones out there.
