How to find a Table showing Minimum Distance between Power and Control Cables in the Cable Track.
I am short in space and I have to install 24V DC Control Cable in Industrial Area in the same Cable Track with Power Cables 600 V,what is not acceptable to me.
Other Engineers are suggesting to provide barrier, but barrier is to separate Power Cables with different voltage levels, not to separate Control and Power Cables.
I would like to know minimum space between Control Cable 24 VDC and Power Cables 600V.
Thanks.

Suggestion: Usually, cable trays separation gives an approximated distance between separations of different cables of different voltages.
IEEE Std 384-1981 IEEE Standard Criteria for Independence of Class 1E Equipment and Circuits
Fig. 7 shows 1 inch separation in horizontal and 1 inch separation in vertical directions for the enclosed raceway separation. It also gives examples of solid separation barriers.

A rule of thumb is 4" per 1000 volts. A barrier is a good idea to seperate control and power as it provides some level of EMI protection..

why don't you run the control cables in a conduit and save all the space and barrier and emi problems and issues. common sense will tell you that if there is a fault on the power cables the control system will be destroyed. causing big problems to repair.

But you may save the client some money on first cost by putting power and control cables together in the same raceway.

I agree with advidana a conduit will do the needful or screened control cable and effective earthing of the cable track will meet your requirement.

Comment: The original posting does not address any instrumentation cables. If these are part of control cables, then they are supposed to be run separately from power cables.
