Hi everyone.

I'm junior engineer and has been assigned to do trawl-pipeline interaction.

My main reference is DNV-RP-F111, and i got stuck how to find plastic moment capacity (mp) which required me to get the value of specified minimum yield stress (SYMS). Since the pipeline is flexible type, I dont have enough data/ source to refer.

Since I have the value for axial stiffness (in tension),(this data usually provided in FEED stage for stiffness of pipeline) i used it to calculate the stress, which stress=Force/cross sectional area, the value will be my basis for the study.

Really appreciate everyone thought/ guidance on this.

As I said before, I'm really not sure thi is the right approach. I don't know F111 , but this seems to be asking for something that doesn't exist.

Is there no one in your company to ask or can't you find a similar calculation done before as these are very common calculations.

I dont have anyone to refer to.
I already do the research but could not find the relevant one. Usually the SMYS can be identify by the Standard (API, ASME. etc) but only for rigid pipe. It seem there is no SMYS for flexible pipe or any range/ standard to be used and from what i understand it require final element analysis/ modelling to get the value since the pipe consist many layers.
I dont have the access, that is why I opt for this method. Im not require to find the exact value. just as the basis for my calculation.
 
well someone asked you to do this didn't they?

You need to go back and ask them to explain a bit more what it is you're supposed to do and how.

A flexible will deform and move when hit by a trawlboard, but a rigid pipe can get dents or be damaged. Different things.
