All,

I'm helping someone to layout a house on a piece of property. I have a full blown version of AutoCad 2005 and the Surveyor has the same. My friend has nothing. Is there a freeware/shareware package that will allow him to manipulate a .dwg drawing? If not is there a inexpensive package sub $100 that he can pick up?

Regards,

Turbocad's list price is ~$700, but they are constantly running 'promotions'. A little sales resistance will get it for <$100.

I have only used it a little bit, but it did what the documentation said it would do, the controls are no more perverse than those of any other CAD program, and it didn't crash. By the dismal standards of today's software, those are high accolades.

I think he can download Acad from the Autodesk site for a 30 day trial. Not sure. If not, then you could load yours onto his as a "demonstration" and after he finished doing what he needs he could uninstall it.
