I can't get the cutout to stay in the new assembly.

And is there a way to make a patern of lets say beems that should be moved in one direction lets say 1000mm

Yes you can mirror a assy driven cutout. Not sure what you mean by "can't ge the cutout to stay in the new assy".

To make a assy pattern start a sketch and create a sketch pattern. Use the sketch pattern to drive the assy pattern.

Chommen,

When you create the assembly feature, in this case a cutout, make sure to select the 'Create assembly driven part features' option. If you create with the 'Create assembly feature' option the cutout will not mirror with the parts.

Realize that using this option will actually change the part files. If you wish to keep the original versions make copies and perform a 'replace' command on the ones you will be cutting.
