Mirroring ribs. Is it possible??? Plus surfaces questions

I am having problems mirroring ribs within part and assembly. Is it possible or am I on a hiding to nothing??

Also, can any one name some good commands for trimming and joining surfaces as my knowledge on this subject is very limited..
