Hi everyone, my name is russel currently have a problem with my abaqus analysis. I run the job I've created for that model of vented brake disc rotor and get the following (very helpful) error message:

Error in job bos: 16235 elements have missing property definitions. The elements have been identified in element set ErrElemMissingSection.
Job bos: Solver Input File Processor aborted due to errors.
Error in job bos: Solver input file processor exited with an error - please see the data file for possible error messages if the file exists.
Job bos aborted due to errors.

Part instance: Part vented disc rotor-1
Number of elements : 16235, Analysis errors: 0 (0%), Analysis warnings: 11 (0.0677548%)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go into the ODB you can display the element set ErrElemMissingSection. But every time I've seen this error it is because of what berkanzturk says.

Hi everyone,

I have the same error. Its displayed ErrElemMissingSection even though i have assigned the section for the part. Please help. I've try to view the element set, and it is on the stringer that i've used. However i have assigned the section and check it again, and still, this error appear. Any suggestion will be great. Thanks in advance.

The problem was that no element types assigned to the stringers, by default, abaqus selects from all but excludes stringers. so you must assign element type to stringers separately. you have 3 options when assigning element types (regions, skins and stringers)

the modified file is attached. happy submitting.. ;)

Thanks for the reply. I know what my mistake now. Instead of assign element on stringer as truss, I've assigned it as beam, that is the problem. Thanks again for the help. :)

I have the same problem modeling rebars in a concrete block using stringers. I have defined element type for the stringer and assign a property section to them but it still gives me "missing property definition" error.
