Mitigant for high rates of gas bubble and fluid expansion in a VST

Greetings,

Please, what could cause high rate gas bubbles and fluid expansion that highly exaggerates the meniscus of liquid level on the sight glass of a vertical surge tank (VST) during a well testing operation, and what can one do in detail to mitigate this condition that gives an erroneous tank factor.

I'd try closing the gauge lower tap valve to limit the influx of the liquid that is flashing in the gauge glass. Don't close the ball check valve as it is a safety device, there should be a valve between it and the vessel, that is the valve to pinch. Now, the reaction time from the vessel level to the site gauge will be off by a second or two.

thank you for your idea, however, what i need is more like a design solution or an operation solution that would affect the activity in the entire vessel, as you know, the sight glass represents a cross section of the vessel of the VST as well as the activities(oil expansion and excessive gas bubbles) in it, which a little opening of the lower valve would not stop these activities. again, when acquiring our meter and shrinkage factors that it determined with time, how do i factor the communication delay of the level indication between the vessel and the sight glass/guage?
