Hi
For some apparent reason, our production staff would like us to display the frequency the inverter is running at. The inverter is located inside a control panel so I was wondering if there was some way to connect a display unit (something like a Dixel) to the inverter which would display the frequency externaly.
Due to the nature of our business i would like to steer clear of HMI's as hygiene like to see how wet they can get them. Lol!
Any help gratefully recieved.
Kind regards
Stuart

The display you want to use does it support this interface?

The drive has an Analog Output (terminal AM). You can program that to be output frequency, but you may have to scale it a bit to compensate for error. Then just get yourself a decent washdown digital meter that accepts 0-10VDC and scale it to show 10VDC as being 1725 (or whatever the motor base speed is).

Dixel makes connectors, sure you didn't mean Dixon? I don't think those come in NEMA 4, but the little Red Lion Cub 5 series does.

A cheaper and simpler all around option though would be to just put a NEMA 4 window on the enclosure door over the VFD's display.

There is a remote keypad for the D700 called a FR-PA07 that could be mounted externally. This can be programmed to show frequency. Wouldn't it be better with a more meaningful display than hz for you production staff? (Eg, elephants per min or whatever you process)

Thanks for the replies Gents.
I've just ordered 4 Red Lion units as a cheap option (£110each). Pieces per minute would be a better display but not sure if the red lion unit would be able to do that.

The meter just displays a value based on the 0-10V analog signal you give it, I think on the Cub you can select between displaying the actual voltage or 0-100%. The VFD can be programmed to output some scaled value such as RMP or Parts Per Minute, but you would have to make the display interpret that analog value to be whatever it means to your operators.

So by that I mean you can have the display show 0-100% of the analog signal coming into it. Then you tell the VFD that the analog output represents pieces per minute, with 100% (10V output) representing the maximum speed of the drive. Then your display gets a little nameplate above it that says "Percent of maximum PPM of 1200 Pieces" and they will have to do the math.

If you want the METER to do the math for you, be prepared to pay a lot more for the meter.

Another reason why a clear window on the door over the VFD display would be better, you CAN program the VFD display to show Parts Per Minute, albeit only the numerical value.
