Modal analysis

Hi everybody,

I'm kind of new to the field of modal analysis and have a doubt.
I've seen some people performing a modal analyis to study possible contact errors in systems with many bodies and I din't understand why. Can anyone give me an explanation?

I used to involve in some modal analysis projects 20 some years ago. This analysis method can be applied to determine the resonance frequencies and the eigen-values/eigen-vectors of a bridge structure. It is also widely used in automobile structure vibration analysis before. But I do not understand your question.
