in the attached image, all the faces that the blue arrows point to should actually look like the ones that the red arrows point to, in other words all tangential radii. This is a really small model, the rad is only 0.2 mm, the blends are created in a sketch and then wrapped on to the surface of the spherical face. What setting can can I edit to ensure that all the corners in the model are displayed as smooth blends rather than looking like chamfers?

Many thanks

Si.

You need to change the display resolution. Your model is good, it's just that the display engine for shaded models uses a faceted display and what you're seeing is the result of that. This can occur if you 'zoom in' too close. Try Regenerating the display.

Hi John

Long time! Nope, Ive tried all sorts of settings, from update display to regenerate work, to visualisation preferences and nothing seems to work.

Many thanks

Si.

I see several versions of NX listed in your signature line; if this is NX 9 or above, try the facet settings. Menu -> preferences -> visualization -> faceting, in the shaded views section: change the facet scale to 'view' and turn on the 'align facets along edges' option. That change alone might fix your display issue. If not, you can experiment with different facet resolution and refinement settings found in the same dialog box.

Measure the angle between the faces to see if it really is a tangent blend face that is displayed incorrectly, or a chamfer-like face that is displayed correctly.

If you are creating really small features, you may need to adjust your modeling tolerance accordingly.

How are you wrapping the sketch onto the spherical face, and how are you creating the solid after that (what commands are you using)?

Happens to me all the time. Try adjust these:

It nothing to do with resolution, it looks like it's to do with the way the forming and flattening tool wraps the curves on to the model. Thanks for all your help and suggestion, however it seems that we have part that is asking beyond the limitations of the tool.

Cheers

Si
