Hi All,

I found this paper online, which looks pretty handy for modelling fasteners:

If the link doesn't work, it will come up if you google 'fastener modeling for joining parts modeled by shell and solid elements'.

The only problem is that it appears to be written for nastran using nastran elements. Does anybody know the analogous elements/method to use in ANSYS?

Thanks in advance!

You posted in tow forums - I suggest to post in ansys forum since it is relevant to that.

Say shells (CQUAD), will be shell181 in ansys, RBAR (rigid 1D element), could be used as either CERIG or a MPC184 (this is a better/easier option) rigid ansys beam/element, CGAP in nastran (node to node contact) would be in ansys a legacy element called contac12.

CBEAM is beam188 in ansys/

See the help manual on how nastran files are imported in ansys for more details and on more specific on these elements.
