Modelling a steady state rotating plate using the *MOTION, ROTATION command in 2D

Dear all,

I'm working to obtain the eigenfrequencies of a rotating plate with friction to another surface. I have some troubles using the MOTION command in 2D. I have managed to get a working model in 3D but due to time savings and some other issues I would like to built it in 2D. Sadly the plate doesn't seem to rotate. My model is quite similar to the Brake squeal analysis from the Abaqus Example Problems Manual. Instead of a cylinder in 2D I use a plate. And also the friction contact is not from the side to the plate but edge. So the friction pad is not on top of the plate but next to it. As I said in 3D everything works just fine, but my two-dimensional model doesn't seem to respond to the motion command.
The respective command lines look like:
2d:

*MOTION, ROTATION, TYPE=VELOCITY
RotSet, 5.0, 0.0,0.0

3d:

*MOTION, ROTATION, TYPE=VELOCITY
RotSet, 5.0, 0.0,0.0,0.0,0.0,0.0,1.0

In both cases the axis of rotation should be perpendicular to the x-y-plane and has always the x-y-coordinates (0,0). For the 2D case I don't get any error messages but I just can't see any effects of the rotation.
