I've just downloaded a program to a modicon CPU , model 984-A145.
Now the CPU won't go into RUN. help..

Modsoft programming software giving STOP CODE 0010H and the PLC status tool indicates an IOP failure.
ie status word 5, bit 12 is high.

What does IOP failure mean ?
Is it a software or hardware error ?
Any help would be appreciated

Look very closely at the network number that is displayed during the down load process. This number changes as the program is being compiled net by net. The network number that is displayed when the error occurs is the network number where an error has occured in your program. The code you wrote has an error.

i have a program that has been in use for 7 years that went down with a 0200H error, and when repowered and tried to restart, gave the 0010H error as a reason for not starting. is there a specific error in code that causes this? because this is an existing, tested and working program tghat came up with the same issue.

The 00002 error is a corrupt memory error. Possible sometimes to power up restart. If not, attempt a reload. If that doesn't work then there is a hard failure. The 0010 error is a configuration/traffic cop failure. Also may be caused by corrupt memory or hard failure. On some models with a separate remote I/O processor (not the A145), if the program utilizes the remote processor and it is either not plugged in to the rack or failed, you will also get a 00010 error.
