I'm developing a spreadsheet for allowable pipe spans and am having trouble finding the correct equation to modify Young's Modulus based on varying temperature. Can anyone help me out on this? I've attached my spreadsheet thus far so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. Row 35 is the area in question. I will re-post once I am finished to share this spreadsheet if anyone is interested. Thanks in advance.

You can't use a factor to adjust the modulus of elasticity for all materials as it is not linear.

Go to B31.X and look at Appendix C for the various materials. Make a temperature dependent table for each material and incorporate that in your spreadsheet.

Thanks John. I was just looking at B31 and started to realize that it is nonlinear. I'll toy around with the spreadsheet and re-post early next week at the latest.

I have an old thermowell calculation spreadsheet that includes tables with the Young's modulus for many materials based upon ASME tables.
