It is not that I am saying not to try invent the wheel too much, is is more like don't try to re-invent them all at once as it is very easy to get overwhelmed.

I think that is one of the things that really hurt Aprillia in their attempt in MotoGP. They just had to run all this high tech stuff such as pneumatic valves and throttle by wire for example and could not make it work as it needed to on the track.

Alot of people get wrapped up in one aspect of bike, and I am not saying that this is you, that they fail to see that the key to being successful is that all the parts need to be able to be integrated into the whole package.

They talk about dyno numbers and this number and that number. None of it is important, in racing the only numbers that are important are lap times. What good is having 10 more hp on the field if you are 2+ seconds off the pace?

Malbeare, this project is great. I can see that you are working mostly on V2 type(because it looks that the "6-stroke" cylinder head cant be done on 4 cylinder inline engines) V2 or V4 engines are very interesting for development in prototype racing which MotoGP is. Keep up with good work and good luck[thumbsup2]

spdingtkts , the ducati Beare 680 V twin
The first test by my rider Phil Allen ( national Australian Bears Champion)he told me that the bike tended to tuck in to the corners. So I extended the front forks by 40mm and it handled superbly, notwithstanding my garden gate trellis frame and Suzuki gs rear wheel and Yamaha fzr front end and my own design swing arm box section RHS with twin Koni shocks. The swing arm pin pivoted in the frame as well as the normal ducati engine mount.During a photo shoot in France a race rider jurnalist took it for a few laps. I told him that it was only a prototype and to take it easy. The second lap he took one eigth of an inch of rubber off both tyres and broke the clutch and something else. so the handling inspired confidence.we got it running again in 24 Hrs.
The power tended to fall off after 7000RPM. I have since worked on that aspect and can report that we are producing about 40 % more power . The original 4 stroke engine would rev to about 7000 in top gear on my fan dyno. we are now getting 10000 with the sixstroke but not reliably as something goes bang every now and then.So we have to re-engineer a new motor for the concept.
SRAD,
it is not that it cant be done in an inline 4 it is just a little bit simpler in a V4 and I think a tighter package is more suitable to help meet the new pedestrian safety legislation with bonnett crumple zones.
But of course my passion is for motorcycle racing.

A tidy mind not intelligent as it ignors the random opportunities of total chaos. Thats my excuse anyway
