Can someone please recommend a good website that gives the basics of electric motors. I need to find out about centrifugal switch's and parrallel/series run windings etc. Thank you.

There are many sites that deal with motors of different kinds. Look at

for example. It is a general AC motor site with links to single-phase motors and all the stuff you asked for.
