Motor Voltage (step down?)

Hello -
I have a 208/240v Motor, 5.9Amps/2.4 Amps single phase. There are three wires coming out of the junction box on the motor.
One of each:Red, Black and White.

Question: Is it possible to step this down to 110/120v standard household current? If so, how?

If the nameplate doesn't list it, then probably not.

Transformer can raise the 110 volt and if you raise the
voltage X times, it will need x times higher corrent
on the input side .

e.g if I need 500 V 6A from 110V input I will need
i=6*500/110= 27.27 A.

Hello CMAZZILLI,

With only three wires you can´t do it.If do you need to energize this motor at 110-120 Volts you need to take out from the windings 3 Wires more. For it send the motor to electric motor repair shop and they will help you. The only way to make it work with 110-120 V standard household is using a single phase transformer in order to raise the voltage to 220 V.In this case is better you make an economic analysis because if possible will better for you buy a new motor.

No, you can not externally reconnect for half voltage and most probably it will need a rewinding.
Yes, for that size motor, the best solution is to buy a new one according to your supply requirements.

IF the windings inside the motor (start & runs) are connected in SERIES the motor can be connected in parallel for 110 volts.
