SW2010 SP5.0 I download models of cylinders (SMC) for example. I take that cylinder assembly and save it as a part file. In the newly created part file, I create configurations of advanced and retracted. I advance the cylinder by inserting a move/Copy bodies feature. I then suppress the feature in the retracted configuration. This works great for the most part, but on occasion, the move bodies feature fails and my cylinder does not advance or retract. This is not a CTRL+Q issue. Does anybody else use cylinders this way and have similar issues?

If I need to show the cylinder "working", I'll create an assembly. If I just need to show extend/retract, I'll create configs of those names and use a dimension between the ends to control the length.

I save the assembly as a part file to reduce the number if files in my folder...

Using Virtual Components in the assy eliminates the need for separate files.

Hmmmm, Not bad. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks.
