In an assembly, why would the Move command be greyed out? I can't move anything. Also, in the assembly one step higer, the move command isn't greyed out, but when using the command I can't select anything.

I am quite new to SE, so I may just be a butthead [ponder].

Select the sub assembly and check to see if it is grounded. You can only move objects that are not fully positioned.

With select tool pick the assembly. Now look below the assembly path finder tree. There should be a box displaying all of the constraints applied to the assembly. If there is a black diamond constraint in the box then its a grounded part. You can delete this constraint by right clicking over it and delete. Beware that if you move the part/assembly while other parts are constrained to it you make affect more than you intend.

Hi,

@Jef
you can move a grounded part, at least with V19 you have to
checkmark the appropriate box within the move dialogue.
Fully constraint parts can't be moved that's true.

@Paul
I've never had that the Move command is greyed out. Are
you sure that it's the Move and not the Transfer command?

Paul,

nothing selectable: top assy --> RMB --> Occurrence Properties
is there any part that shows NO under the column 'Selectable' ?

Even when all parts/subassy are marked 'not selectable' the Move
command is still not greyed out (V19/SP3)

Paul,

as last resort you can try to delete the complete registry entry
for SE, SE must not be running of course and it must be done from
within your usual working account:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\Solid Edge\Version 19

but only this key! To play safe you should export this key to a secure
place before deleting it.

I've had issues where Icons did show only white instead of a picture
and other weird things where this did help. The Key will be recreated
when SE is started.
Downside: you loose all your settings.
