Hi all,

found some issues in nx7 and in nx8.

1. nx7

in modeling mode I draw some lines (non-associated), and group them. Then I try to copy them using "Move Object" comand. and it is impossible to select grouped lines. Then I go to drafting mode, create view, expand created view. And again I try to use "Move Object" command. Now it is possible to select, but after copying/moving, copied/moved lines became ungrouped. why? By the way, there is no problems of copying/moving objects both in modeling and in drafting (expanded view) using old "Transform" command.

2. nx8

it is possible to select grouped lines in modeling, and after copying/moving they stay grouped. its ok. but it is bad, that it is not possible to select grouped lines in expanded view. So how to move/copy grouped lines in expaded view?

I'm talkin about non-associated lines and non-associated copying/moving.

Attaching nx8 file. try move or copy grouped lines in expaded drafting view.

Thanks.

Realy nobody uses expanded views and working with 2D geometry there?
:/

Why? The sketcher function works just fine for 2D drafting views.

Tecnomatix Quality 8.0.1.3

Also i've tried the move/copy of the grouped curves, and had no problem to do this in NX7.5. I didn't tried the move in expanded view in drafting. DaSalo has a point, since sketcher function is available in drafting (NX6 i think) i rarely make use of the expanded view option.

Best regards,

Michaël.

Yes, sketcher function is nice option, but:

we have thousands of old 2d drawings (it is kind of layout plans of railway turnouts. There is no sense to make them parametric or full 3d models). It is not very handy swiching between drafting->modeling, in order to move or copy some geometry (usualy grpuped). It is quite handy to do this in drafting in expanded view. Also then it is possible to add some dimensions (for drafting). I think if there is such a function (i have expanded view in mind), so it must work correctly, but not in some cases work in some not.

If you feel this is a 'regression', please contact GTAC and have them open an IR and see what development has to say about this so-called change in behavior.
