You've left me and everybody else in suspense!

What did you purchase instead, and why?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to know.

To which Toys19 responded as follows:

...We chose Algor professional MES + extras. Based on long term trials of v.19.3 and a very recent viewing of their latest offering V20, much improved. Our decision depended on a few important parameters.

At this point, please allow me to greatly summarize his points as follows:

1) Meshing. Algor's automesher was deemed superior for two reasons: The ability to mesh complicated geometries that other meshers were unable to mesh and the maximum use of bricks by the solid mesher for improved convergence.

2) Ease of Use. "femap feels clunky compared to algor )not that it doesn't have its faults) but the latest version is very slick";.

3) MES (mechanical event simulation) is excellent.

4) Non-linear solver and materials models excellent, femap is probably more tweakable but we find that we do not need it, and I think Algor has a greater range of materials models anyway

5) Support. ...Pittsburgh based support is comprehensive and dedicated.

Bad points - contact set-up is painful, but massively improved in V20 and further big improvements promised

I am very happy to see that the people eng-tips cleaned up this thread. Garland, I like your postings and find you very helpful. I appreciate the Algor info. Thanks.
